"Methinks that be the last time you call me kilt a dress with a grin and a snicker, aye laddies?" - Grendorey Hu Maggrath - Tower of the Upplands. Mountain of High Harrow.

I made this piece for the upcoming Athercon online rpg convention.

It looks great the way it is, maybe too much detail on the background would indeed take the focus from the scene (just my opinion I may be wrong), by the way kilts are awesome!!

Very fun drawing, the scared guards in the background is a very nice touch.

Gee, what will the authorities think of this, if he kills someone?
Telling a large highlander that he's in a dress (or skirt)...
They'll probably label it suicide and be done.

You're technique is quite good, by the way. I like how you've made the background fuzzier than the foreground. It helps keep the focus on the highlander and the attempted suicides.

Thanks,

I'm glad it turned out right. sometimes it's hard to quit adding detail to those background characters

Have you ever tried to just continue to add details and characters? Maybe it will look cool when it is finished.

I've done some murals with quite a bit of detail in the foreground and background characters. It can look pretty good on large scale paintings like that. but even then I'd tone/cool down the backround colours to give it a feeling of distance.
